Class action against the CSDM: discriminatory questionnaires challenged by the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse

The Commission is taking a historic step by filing a request for class action against the Commission scolaire de Montréal (CSDM) on behalf of a person who had to complete a medical questionnaire as part of the hiring process. It is claiming $10,000 in moral and punitive damages for each person who has had to complete this CSDM pre-employment questionnaire in the past three years.

Montréal, October 2 2019 –The Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse is taking a historic step by filing a request for a class action against the Commission scolaire de Montréal (CSDM) on behalf of a person who had to complete a medical questionnaire as part of the hiring process. Since its creation in 1976, this is the first time that the Commission has brought a class action. It is claiming $10,000 in moral and punitive damages for each person who has had to complete this CSDM pre-employment questionnaire in the past three years.
