Violation of rights

The rights of youth that are taken in charge by an institution, an organisation or an individual (like a foster home, the Director of Youth Protection, a rehabilitation centre, etc.) are protected by laws (the Youth Protection Act and the Youth Criminal Justice Act). When the institution, organisation or individual does not respect the youth’s rights, it is considered as a « violation of rights ».

Please note that if you believe that a child is being mistreated or neglected, or if you believe the child displays serious behavioural problems, you can report it to the Director of Youth Protection (DYP).
