The Human Rights Tribunal has ordered a couple to pay more than $120,000 in material, moral and punitive damages for exploiting their aunt who had Alzheimer's disease and was found unfit to protect herself, a case brought by the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse in the name of the now deceased victim.
Montréal, June 27, 2018– The Human Rights Tribunal has ordered a couple to pay more than $120,000 in material, moral and punitive damages for exploiting their aunt who had Alzheimer's disease and was found unfit to protect herself, a case brought by the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse in the name of the now deceased victim.
