Bill 5: Potential risks to the educational success of children in poverty, according to the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse

The Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse analyzed Bill 5 from the perspective of the Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms, and hopes that it will not interfere with the development and success of children living in poverty.

Montréal, June 4, 2019 – The Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse analyzed Bill 5 from the perspective of the Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms, and hopes that it will not interfere with the development and success of children living in poverty. In a brief sent to the National Assembly, the Commission made four recommendations aimed at ensuring that preschool education services are offered to all children on an equal basis, including children living in poverty and children with disabilities or with learning disabilities.
