Montréal, September 25, 2014– The President of the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse, Jacques Frémont, today paid tribute to Danielle Grenier, who died yesterday, in Gatineau.

Mrs. Grenier was a medical doctor and a member of the Commission for the past 15 years. A pediatrician, she worked in in private practise at the Centre hospitalier de Gatineau and at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario over a 35-year career. She was also director of medical affairs with the Canadian Pediatric Society for many years.

"Her vast experience, her deep knowledge of youth issues, her contribution to the work of the Commission and her advocacy for children were invaluable," Mr. Frémont said.

"It was truly a privilege to work with such a person a fine, intelligent and generous person. She was always very sensitive to others’ needs, especially young people and vulnerable people," he said, offering, in the name of Commission members and personnel, his condolences to her family and friends.
