Student rights are integral to academic freedom

The Commission believes that academic freedom is a founding value of liberal democracies. As such, it must be protected for all members of the academic community, whether teachers or students. In a letter sent to the National Assembly on Tuesday, the Commission also stated that Bill 32 should refer more explicitly to Charter rights and freedoms, including the right to equality.
