The Bureau des enquêtes indépendantes must be allowed to investigate sexual assaults involving police officers, according to the Commission

In the wake of the troubling allegations concerning the conduct of Val-d’Or police officers, the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse reiterates that the regulations providing the framework for investigations of the Bureau des enquêtes indépendantes (Bureau of independent investigations) should be modified to broaden the definition of serious injury to include serious psychological injuries as well as those resulting from a sexual assault.
