The Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse recommends changes to Bill no 83 to ensure that every polling stations in municipal elections be accessible to people with disabilities.

Montréal, March 14, 2016 – The Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse recommends changes to Bill no 83 to ensure that every polling stations in municipal elections be accessible to people with disabilities.

In a letter sent last week, to Municipal Affairs and Land Occupancy Minister, Martin Coiteux, the President of the Commission, Jacques Frémont, explains that the proposed changes as set out in Bill n°83 : An Act to amend various municipal-related legislative provisions concerning such matters as political financing, do not respect the rights of disabled people guaranteed in the Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms.
